Overview New version of PageCarton - 1.8.68 released today is in essence introducing internationalization to PageCarton. We received this "Please check the operation of CMS in Cyrillic" issue on github by one of our users in Russia and it neccesitated that we applied a quick fix to ensure our global users can use PageCarton without needing to know/use latin alphabets. Furthermore, we have also used this update to introduce some more bug fixes and performance uprades to PageCarton so that sites and apps upgraded to this version will run faster, enjoy smoother user experience and consume less server resources. What changed? Here is a summary of the changes in this version Changes for Users Temporarily save downloads in cache Minimize data usage by caching some frequently downloaded content Fix multi-price not showing Porducts with multi-prices sometimes go hidden because of the price ranges not set. This has been fixed Save theme screenshot from repo The real screenshot of the theme as shown in the repository is what users will now see when they are selecting themes in the New Website Wizard. Show updates for installed themes Themes can now be updated from the Admin Panel just like PageCarton core. Whenever updates for a new theme in available, the user is notified in the admin panel and they can follow the on-screen information to update the theme. Once page is created, let's have blank content New pages now come with blank content so they page is available immediately. Before now, users had to add a content before a page is available, else a created page still shows 404 error if content is not added Transliterate url for pages, post and profiles Users not writing in latin alphabets a-Z can now create Pages, Posts and Upload pictures in their own language. The system automatically Transliterate their text to latic characters. This project - cettox/transliteration was helpful in making this possible. Chinese, Cyrillic, Japanese and every other UTF characters can now be used within PageCarton. Changes for Developers :( Also added are loads of bug fixes, performance upgrades and visual face-lift. PageCarton sites and apps upgraded to this version will run faster, enjoy smoother user experience and consume less server resources. What changed? Here is an overview of the changes in this version Changes for Users Larger pictures on blog page We received feedback the the picture on the blog page being cropped wasn't the best default mode. So we tweaked this settings to make the pictures come out bigger Fix Login redirect error with duplicate port num There was an error that resulted in redirection to wron URL with sites installed with custom port numbers. This error has been fixed. article_description auto-cropped out of content Post descriptions are no longer required when making post. This information is cropped out of the post article content if it is available. Undo Inverse order RSS values was in the wrong other. This are fixed to ensure newer contents come on top of the feed. Users can now view changes of new upgrades When a new upgrade is prompted in the backend, users wanted to be able to read about the changes before the go ahead to perform the upgrade. We have added this functionality Line breaks to show on comments The comment box now can allow line breaks. Earlier, the line breaks wasn't showing. Add button to float status bar in page editors Some themes some contains element that covers the widgets which sometimes make editing impossible. We have added another option to make the widget always come on top of all other elements. Bug fix - fieldset splitter There was an error that was making all elements in custom forms show one by one instead of being grouped into the right fieldset. This issue has been fixed. Bug fix - Adding menu options result in 500 error. Whenever some menu options was added, this resulted in a 500 server error. This issue has been resolved. Big fix - Slideshow post images wasn't showing Slideshow images wasn't showing in some cases, this has been fixed. Changes for Developers instead of in themes In building themes, designers can now use in places where they would have needed to use , , etc to reference a variable in templates. auto-added In building themes, users needed to add to indicate where dynamic data is to be placed. Whenever this is not included, the system determines this and place it automagically. Also added are loads of bug fixes, performance upgrades and visual face-lift. Date: 12th May, 2019 Venue: Nustreams Event Centre Time: 5pm Attendance: Ayoola Falola Olabamiji Mayowa Adebowale Adeyele Minutes The meeting started around 5:10pm with greetings from Mr Ayoola. Mr Ayoola spoke extensively about the urgent need for us to change strategies in the running of the PageCarton Brand. In his words, he said we need to place more value on the PageCarton brand. He also mentioned the fact that we need to create and maintain the business side of  PageCarton in order to sustain the PageCarton brand itself. He also stated that we cant possibly sustain PageCarton activities and programs with free programs. We need to place value on those programs in order to sustain our activities. Mr Ayoola also discussed his ideas on how PageCarton can be more viable and how PageCarton can work better. He suggested PageCarton should have some paid employees which would be saddled with field activities (PageCarton Events) of PageCarton. He mentioned that, whatever money generated from PageCarton Events will be used in the payment of such paid employees of PageCarton. Mr Mayowa explained how much efforts he is putting into making sure PageCarton gets more users and also more members for the community. He talked about his plans on engaging students of The Polytechnic Ibadan and other tertiary institution in Oyo State. Mr Adebowale raised the need for the PageCarton Program calendar to be updated and possibly trimmed down to major monthly and annual events. He also raised the need for us as Managers to kick-start plans for the 2019 PAGECARTON CONFERENCE as soon as possible. He said a planning committee and sub-committees needs to be set up for the PageCarton Conference as soon as possible in order to improve on what we achieved during the maiden edition of the PageCarton Conference. Mr Adebowale then suggested we have to prioritize the PageCarton Programs. All members present then agreed that we must put in more work and efforts to the monthly PageCarton BootCamps and the secondary school programs in order to get more participants for the PageCarton Conference.  Mr Ayoola announced to the meeting that he has already made contact with Government College Ibadan to take the first secondary school training there. The PageCarton Secondary school programs will therefore have its pilot program at the Government College Ibadan which the date will be announced as soon as possible.  Mr Mayowa gave us the detailed report of the last FUTA Outreach and the meeting reviewed the report adequately. In the review of the report, it was stated that Mr Mayowa still need to be reimbursed with the sum of 18,000 naira being part of the expenses he incurred during the FUTA Outreach. Fortunately, Mr Ayoola weighed in to make a promise to pay a substantial part of the money, while he appealed to all other managers to also make their own contributions (no matter how little) so as to offset the debt as quickly as possible. Every member present at the meeting agreed that we make the PageCarton Managers meeting a monthly meeting so as to make every manager work more smarter and faster and also to put a face to every word we express on our Whatsapp group. The meeting was adjourned till 9th June, 2019. The Meeting ended at exactly 7pm and thereafter, we proceeded to have some refreshments.    Presented By:  Adebowale Adeyele (General Secretary)
