In a way to ensure a smooth transition to the upcoming major version of PageCarton which is to be released in the coming weeks, we needed to make some changes to the PageCarton 1.8 core to make it easy for developers to test and also contribute changes to the new PageCarton 1.9 "Adadevoh" project.

What's new in PageCarton 1.8.71

Run pagecarton from another repository

With added another option in the "pagecarton.json" configuration file to enable you to automatically sync your PageCarton core with a git repository of your choice. This is especially useful for developers who want to use their version of PageCarton on multiple sites for testing purposes.

This update is what allows our developers to test Adadevoh on development sites before its final release date. We have also published a documentation article on how to implement this,  Auto Sync PageCarton Core from Another Git Repository

Good day everyone and I want to personally thank you for the continued support in the PageCarton Community. This community is a very good one, it has has members a lot of great people - the most valuable resource on planet earth.

In my earlier posts, I have explained why we needed a shakeup in the running of this community but I see that some of us have not been following our activities. Particularly in this video https://youtu.be/QUV8DbJVXNQ, I shared on my idea of the future of this community. I recommend this video for every true PageCarton Community member.

Meanwhile, there is no going back on our plan to ensure we get a better community where all it’s members contribute towards a common goal. By July 1st 2019, we will begin to implement the premium membership plan of the community. Surely, a number of us here will leave because we do not share in the vision, that’s okay. We actually don’t want to continue to keep as members who do not share in our vision as stated in the “What is PageCarton” post some time back

The membership plans are not to send anyone away, that is why we ensured that our plans are not too pricy.

  1. Student Membership will contribute 1200 naira yearly. This will be for strictly for Nigerian Undergraduate Students.
  2. Standard Members will contribute   6000 naira yearly. This will be the basic membership plan for individuals.
  3. VIPs will contribute 12000 naira yearly.
  4. Corporate Partners will contribute a minimum of 60000 naira yearly.

Up to date membership plans are on https://community.pagecarton.org/

Every member will have a digital badge that could be used on their websites and other digital platforms. The first goal is to ensure that by default, all Community members have a little financial quota they are giving to the project. We also want a default sustainable financial plan for the project and membership is the first executable of such plan we have.

We want to be able run our programs effectively and also have dedicated hands to provide the community support we need. But we know that this will cause some members who are not properly aligned to take their leave. This is also OKAY. We hope to make this community worth the while of everyone. Our programs are designed to make this happen and we can’t continue to use financial constraints as excuse for not delivering our best. Personally, I don’t want to continue to see “founding” members who have not used PageCarton to build anything. Who don’t contribute to our programs, read Community message wall, share our message or even say anything on this group.

We hope that through a default financial contributions, we will all be properly aligned and have more sense of belonging in the community. This community is a mix of three groups of people right now

1. People who have contributed one way or the other to PageCarton. They are our friends and families, their joy is to see the project succeed.

2. People who have benefited one way or the other from PageCarton. They are our witnesses that we have been impactful. We hope they can also contribute

3. People who have not properly aligned themselves with the vision of PageCarton. We hope
to onboard them effectively into the project.

These are the sets of people we are serving here and we hope to make the this place the place to be. Whenever we are right now, I hope we can get ourselves to a point whereby we contribute to the success of PageCarton. I don’t want a project that depends on me to succeed or to remain successful. That is why I stopped campaigning for donations for our projects.

Because I discovered that people who donated are mostly my friends, families and people within my network. They were just giving me money by proxy. What happens when Ayoola is not available to campaign for funds? The community must rise up now and take their place to support this project. This is what I am going all out for with this premium membership plans.

I am hoping that we can gather enough support. Once again, appreciate the efforts we have pushed into this so far. Sincerely, we won’t have come this far without the support we received from well meaning individuals in this community. I solicit for our continued support while we move more steps forward to success.

Thanks and regards.

Good day everyone
I am Debo' Adeyele, I am the Publicity 'Plug' for the Adadevoh 1.9 version of the PageCarton.

I welcome everyone formally to this project.

I'd like to sincerely apologize for coming a little bit late to the "Party", kindly pardon me for doing so.

Adadevoh as a project officially started June 2nd, 2019 and it is expected to be ready for launch by August 1st, 2019.

Adadevoh Team List with individual duties on the project;

1. Ayoola Falola (Project Team Lead)
2. Mayowa Olabamiji (Project Testing)
3. Tolulope Ogundiji (User Experience)
4. Deborah Daniel (Project Documentation)
5. Issac Daramola (Project Administrative Dashboard)
6. Olowookere Damilola (Project Installer)
7. David Oluwasina (Project Themes)
8. Debo' Adeyele (Public Relations)
9. Oleg Perminov

Over the past weeks, we have had series of updates from the Adadevoh project which I will like to bring us up to speed with the recap of the activities of the team over the past weeks.

Olabamiji Mayowa (Project Testing) during the first week on the project started out by throwing a quick question at the team. He asked that team members should suggest various features they are expecting to see while testing the Adadevoh Project. He also asked if Adadevoh should be tested both online and offline or otherwise. Features such as How to find out Errors, More information on widgets on text examples to create themes were suggested Also, a question of Why is PageCarton not being installed in the domain folder in the sub-domain folder one level lower was also asked.

Ayoola Falola subsequently shared some resources on how to get started in creating themes and widgets. He also promised to share more contents on creating same.

Oleg Perminov asked a vital question about why PageCarton is not being installed in the domain folder in the sub-domain folder one level lower?

While running a test on the project, Olabamiji Mayowa discovered that the buttons doesn't look good enough. He also mentioned that "Article Description" should be added to the post creation in the next update.

In all, PageCarton 1.9 (Adadevoh) is a work in progress, though, we are not where we are supposed to be, but we are making some progress regardless of all the challenges.

Prompt and frequent updates shall be coming out on Project Adadevoh as we continue in the quest to make the PageCarton Project a success.

Thank you everyone for your time.

Best regards

This project will launch on Aug 1st 2019 and we are still seeking highly motivated individuals to join the team working on this project.  To join in the project kindly visit www.pagecarton.org/join

So far, we have gotten some of the best hands in the generation on deck. Damilola Emmanuel⁩ is leading a team enhancing and revamping the installer for Adadevoh. ⁨Isaac Daramola⁩ is revamping the Administrative Dashboard. ⁨David Oluwashina is leading a design project for new follow-come themes for Adadevoh. Mayowa Olabamiji is the head of the testing team to ensure we have Adadevoh that truly works for everyone. Ogundiji Tolulope⁩ is here to ensure we have the best experience for our users. Deborah Daniel is tasked with Documentation of the Adadevoh and ⁨Debo Adeyele⁩ is leading the PR team ensuring we keep everyone abreast as the project unfolds. I am leading the project from behind putting finishing touches to the area of internationalization of Adadevoh. We also have a number of international team members mostly making sure Adadevoh comes out multilingual. Ain’t you excited?

Overview

We are bringing you the latest version of PageCarton - 1.8.70 released today. This release has bring us closer to the future of a better web with PageCarton.

What changed?

Here is a summary of the changes in PageCarton - 1.8.70

Changes for Users

  • Allow editors to impersonate profiles
We now allowed some priviledged editors to use profiles by other post creators. This feature was restricted for admin users.
  • Better anti-XSS in cleanHTML method
We have improved our library used to clean up user input to savegaurd PageCarton websites against XSS attacks. This has made it possible to now securely format "article_content" and other html content in the post list.

Changes for Developers

  • Create HTML theme from scratch
There was an issue in the last version that made it almost impossible to create a theme from scratch, this issue is resolved in this version. The version also makes it easier to code theme from scratch. We included a bootstrap boilerplate for designers to get started fast.
  • Restrict viewers of a post type
It can now be set that a particular post type will be viewable by some set of users or group. Post type options now include privacy options that could be used to restrict the viewers of categorized posts.
  • Save Page Widgets
Page Widgets can now be saved automatically and such Page Widgets can also be versioned so they could be restored to the way they were in history. So instead of restoring the whole page, a particular widget could be restored.

Meanwhile, everyone is to braceup for the new PageCarton 1.9 launching Aug 1st 2019. Also added are loads of bug fixes, performance upgrades and visual face-lift.
